Where The Surf Meets The Turf!
If you're a fan of racing and have a bucket list Del Mar is sure to be
on it. Founded by Bing Crosby and located on Jimmy Durante Drive you
know the place has got to have some history. With both tracks running at
the same time it would seem Del Mar and Saratoga are mirror images of
each other on a different coast.
Even without the Hollywood Hoopla Del
Mar has it all a gorgeous setting and top notch racing. With it's short
meet and excellent stakes program Del Mar has a purse value index of 61
one of the highest in the country.
In 2011 Del Mar ran its usual late summer meet and once again opted to use the five day schedule instituted in 2009. The Pacific Classic was won by Acclamation with Pat Valenzuela aboard and Joel Rosario captured the riding title. Racing resumes in July of 2012.
With a purse value index that has grown to 77 in 2014, only Saratoga Race Course provides better quality racing in North America.
