BIOGRAPHY

Karen Rogers was a native of New Jersey, growing up not far from Monmouth Park. She begin her professional career at the age of sixteen at Hialeah Park. On April 28,1979 she rode a horse named Northern Strike to a second place finish that day. Her third career start found her at Keystone Race Track, outside Philadelphia, this time she would not be denied. On May 21st aboard La Prima Rose, she earned her first win. For the rest of the year she would ride mainly in New Jersey, before crossing the river.

In 1980, Rogers would become a regular rider on the NYRA circuit, she would become a multiple Graded Stakes winner with Adept, winning the Grade3 Affectionately and Grade1 Top Flight in 1983. She rode at some other venues over her career, mostly in stakes races. In March of 84 at the age of 21 she abruptly retired, but she would return.

At the end of 1988 Rogers, came back to ride three races at Aqueduct and returned to a regular schedule in 1989. Her last race would be on October 29, 1990 aboard Scuba, that race went fine, but two morning later she was injured in a training accident and retired for good.
